The ecological and natural attractions in the Evansville region are blessed to have dedicated, talented people working hard year-round to ensure the attractions remain beautiful, educational and peaceful to visit.
But help is always needed.
The following are just a few ways you can contribute to the success of our areas natural attractions through donating your time, talent or treasure.
Angel Mounds State Historic Site
Volunteer opportunities at Angel Mounds are available through membership in the Friends of Angel Mounds, a not-for-profit, community organization created to promote development of and interest in Angel Mounds State Historic Site as an educational and historical facility. Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science
Students in grades 7 through 12 have the unique opportunity to volunteer in the Museums Student Explainer Program, where they can assist visitors with exhibits in the hands-on Gallery, Family Place, and the Alcoa Gallery. Any museum member can volunteer to provide guided tours of the Museums permanent collections, special exhibits and planetarium shows for school children, church groups and other visitors by joining the Museum Docent Association. John James Audubon State Park & Museum
The Friends of John James Audubon is a non-profit organization that works to ensure that the works of art in the Museum are properly maintained, displayed and cared for, and develops and produces programs and exhibits in the Nature Center. Operation City Beautiful
Numerous volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups, adults and youth, are available through Operation City Beautiful. Operation City Beautiful is a private not-for-profit organization dedicated to motivating and educating the community through litter prevention, recycling and beautification programs for the environmental and economic benefit of the greater Evansville area. Pigeon Creek Greenway Passage
Nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts of all types can enjoy the Pigeon Creek Greenway Passage, which will eventually encircle our region and connect to the American Discovery Trail. Volunteers are always needed to help maintain the Greenway Passage on an on-going basis and participate in work days, and corporate and individual donations are appreciated to allow amenities to be added. Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve
Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve is owned by the City of Evansville and operated by the Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve Society, a non-profit organization supported by tax-deductible memberships and donations. Contributions of time and/or money make environmental education and preservation possible in the Evansville area. Volunteer applications are available at the Wesselman Woods Nature Center, or you can request one by e-mail at wwnp@evansville.net.
