Schedule of Events for Saturday, September 18, 2004

8:00am – 4:00pm   Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve,
551 N Boeke Rd
.
Enjoy the latest exhibits and walk the trails of the largest urban forest in the state of Indiana.

9:00am Morning Bird Watches, Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve, 551 N Boeke Rd. & Angel Mounds State Historic Site, 8215 Pollack Ave.
Enjoy the diversity of Southwestern Indiana’s native bird populations on these tours led by representatives of the Audubon Society.

9:00am - 5:00pm Angel Mounds State Historic Site Events, Angel Mounds State Historic Site, 8215 Pollack Ave.
Enjoy displays and talk with experts from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Those divisions represented will be Fish and Wildlife, Soil Reclamation, Oil and Gas, Museums and Historic Sites, Nature Preserves, Reservoirs and Forestry. Conservation officers will be on hand. Guided tours of the state historic site will be ongoing throughout the day.

10:00am & 3:00pm Howell Wetlands, Broadway & Tekoppel.
Hike the Howell Wetlands and discover this unique eco-system. Come and see endangered flora and fauna such as the Purple Passion Flower and the Green Tree Frog.

10:00am – 3:00pm ECO Tour Headquarters, The Pagoda,
401 SE Riverside Dr.

Explore the ECO information on all ECO Tourism points of interest within Southwestern Indiana.

10:00am–3:00pm    Craft Making.
Bring the kids and assist in making a variety of interesting crafts.

10:00am–3:00pm Tour the Newest Phase of the Pigeon Creek Greenway Passage.
Join us for ongoing tours throughout the day of Evansville’s newest section of the Pigeon Creek Greenway Passage.

11:00am & 2:00pm World Bird Sanctuary Program.
See wildlife biologists with their wide array of North American birds of prey.


3:00pm Canoe Evansville Canoe Trip, Heidelbach Canoe Launch, end of Heidelbach Ave., north of Diamond Ave. $10 per person.
Partake of this 1-1⁄2 hour canoe trip down the beautiful Pigeon Creek and experience the diverse ecological wonders of the scenic waterway. Register at the ECO Tour Headquarters at the Pagoda or meet at the Heidelbach canoe launch 30 minutes prior to launching. Space is limited so register early!

7:30pm StarWatch, The Pagoda, 401 SE Riverside Dr.
Telescopes provided by the Evansville Astronomical Society. View a variety of star clusters, constellations, and the moon.
